I've been out to Colony Ridge for work.

Development client of ours was looking at buying a bunch of homes/lots and we did the due diligence for the purchase.

It's an odd place that's for sure.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit conducted a joint investigation with the Houston Police Department, along with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Texas Department of Public Safety in the Plum Grove area in reference to the distribution of large amounts of methamphetamines. On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, a Liberty County Interdiction Unit initiated a traffic stop on a white panel van being operated by a Hispanic male identified as Gerson Lopez Zuniga and two passengers identified as Cruz Isidro Sandoval and Adan Aguirre Arzate of Liberty County, Texas.
The operator of the vehicle, Zuniga, was found to be an illegal immigrant possessing a semi auto handgun in his waist. During the traffic stop, investigators made contact with the passenger Sandoval who admitted to possessing a large amount of methamphetamines at a camper trailer located in the 1600blk of Road 3542. After obtaining permission to conduct a search of the camper trailer, Investigators located twelve "Iceberg Lettuce" boxes that contained approximately 156 kilograms (344 pounds) of methamphetamines.
A check of all three subjects was conducted and all three were found to be illegal immigrants that all had been deported on at least four other occasions. All three subjects were arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail where Sandoval was charged with Manufacture/Delivery Controlled Substance over 400g (Felony 1) while Zuniga and Aguirre were jailed with ICE holds.
(The information was taken from the deputy's report. The defendants are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty)

Saw another one where this Mexican gang member, wanted for homicide in Mexico, keeps getting caught and deported over DWI's in East Texas. Most recently in Shelby County (Center), and a couple previous pops in Nacogdoches.

I think for 2 dwi's. Houston Landing had a good story with write ups and photos about the case and early dismissal in Walker County - Huntsville, but I don't recall other Houston area media covering the story…
