September has stumbled upon us, and for many wives across the United States, weekends with
their husbands are shot to hell. Wednesday night date nights might help the situation, but the
combination of dove season, football season, and eventually, deer season (check your cameras
lately?) make the battle to maintain equilibrium in the "happy wife = happy life" mantra all too
complex. I'd suggest an, "I'm just trying to stock the freezers, honey" or "If I win fantasy, I'm
using the money to take you out to dinner," approach.

The overlap of football and hunting is strong in not only timeframe, but also in characteristics.
Whether it's a coach calling the plays or a guide calling the shots, strategy is at the forefront.

Many people travel to Africa with the desire to drop a kudu. These animals are magnificent and
elusive… the "Grey Ghost," as we say. Despite the pictures showcasing a trophy bull and the
biggest smile a client can form, a hunt for a kudu is not easy. Oftentimes, it's days on days of
hiking, stalking, and fighting nerves when you finally get the chance to line up a shot. In the
States, it's comparable to elk hunting, but with different terrain and elements to fight.

That being said, let's set the scene: You just dropped a massive elk (we're rooting for an African
kudu, but I digress) at last light. It's mile and a half back to the truck, straight up a nasty draw.
The temperature is dropping, and you're looking at a brutal pack-out. Fortunately, you've got a
chosen Aggie athlete as your partner.

Who are you picking and why? Is it raw strength? Consistent endurance? Focus under
pressure? Perhaps you're more focused on the person that'll bring the jokes to lighten the mood
(and crack a beer when you get back to camp).

Maybe you're picking Devon Achane for speed. Or Mike Evans for the speed/size combo? Seth
Small under pressure. Nate Boerkircher for a last-minute clutch move. Johnny for the vision
(and party afterwards)?

This is all in good fun, but it highlights what we value at Hook & Bullet Adventures: the right
partner, toughness, and preparation. We handle the hard logistics and heavy lifting on our South
African hunts, so you can focus on the thrill of the chase and making memories. Our priority lies
in authentic hunting experiences- complete with work for a kill, knowledge of the sport, and
enjoyment in the pursuit. It's not polished, and sometimes it's not pretty- but we're here to
satisfy the hunt you always dreamed of.

Now, back to it... who are you taking and why? Gig 'em!

We're Hook & Bullet Adventures. Our Maroon and White hunting packages provide sweet savings to those who wear the ring, but are still customizable to create the South Africa hunting trip you crave. Come hunt with us and experience Africa raw, real, and honest - the Hook & Bullet way.
