Absolutely incredible metal show tomorrow night and somehow I've never been to white oak before, so any pro tips on decent parking in the area? Don't feel like coming back to a smashed window.

Arrive early, park and grab a drink at this bar:

https://www.whiteoaksocial.com/

Walk over to the show afterwards.

Great bar and venue. Enjoy!

We usually park in the are a circled in red. Try to come in on main from the north

That's lot B I believe so pick up a parking pass for that lot on the music hall website before hand if possible.

Also if you like metal AT ALL you need to go to this show. Acid Bath is probably one of the most original bands ever, even though their last album came out in 1997 iirc. I'll link a thread I made about them in a bit. Obituary is one of the best but least complicated and most accessible death metal bands ever and just cheesy good time. Heavy as hell too. High on Fire is incredible as well. Matt Pike is a metal legend and also the front man of Sleep, which just happens to be the loudest show I have ever been to. My buddy's band Necrofier is one of the openers but I haven't heard of the other opener. The fact that Acid Bath is playing a show in Houston in 2026 is just incredible in itself.

No, it's just a nice place to hang out before the show if you get there early to avoid the crowds. You have to pay for the lot I circled.

I park on North St just across 45 as it's basically the neighborhood w/ lots of street parking and not too long of a walk.

Do old people still mosh? Is that a thing still?

Or is it a bunch of mid 40's sitting at a high top table gently nodding their head to the beat longing for their hair to be shoulder length again, opining about how late it is and how their neck will be sore in the morning

I don't know that answer to that, but in order to get let in you have to be wearing a denim vest with at least twelve different death metal patches sewn on it.

I was legitimately thinking about this earlier. The show is $80, which is insane to me for a metal show but I'll probably never get another chance to see acid bath. One of those high top tables is almost a $400 add on LMAO GFY. I think that a lot of guys that were metalheads 20 years ago are now well to do middle to upper middle class guys and so the prices reflect that. I assume there will be plenty of younger metal heads mixing it up, but considering the last acid bath album was released in 1997, the crowd will definitely skew much older.

And Concerts are just alot more expensive. I just checked and for Gary Allan, on a Thursday night, at 713, a table for 4 way in the back is $256. I paid almost double that for Hudson Westbrook a couple months ago.

Yea I don't go to many these days so don't have any experience with it. I think the last concert I went to was willie nelson at Ford theatre in Beaumont and it was less than this lol

yeah but at that table way in the back you can sit alone and think of losing her

White oak is a great venue - especially the lawn. Woodland social (now white oak social) has tons of parking and we always go there before/after.

I like to park downtown (street parking is free after 6:00 PM), pregame at the Flying Saucer and then take the light rail (yes, I'm the one) to White Oak.

It was good. Obituary was the loudest. Was expecting that title to go to High on Fire as the front man's other band (Sleep) is the loudest show I have ever been to. Maybe they can't get as loud at WOMH because of the Nimbys? Was honestly pretty disappointed it wasnt louder.

Acid Bath was really tight and the love show honestly didn't sound like their records, in a sense that it sounded way more southern rock n roll with tinges of metal live. Dax still has the pipes, which is awesome. Played several of my favorite songs, although a different version of one I was really hoping to hear.

What is insane is the guitarist said the last time they were in Houston around 1997 there were like 5 people at their show. 1997 was the last record they put out. My buddy who booked the show said there were nearly 4000 tickets sold. Absolutely insane.

Also, a metal show in the south has to be the most dysgenic place on earth.

Also it is somewhat surprising to me you have friends who were attending that show.

Haha - I know at least several people who went. I can't help that I have friends with bad taste in music.

You keep better company than I could have ever imagined. I took another dad from my kids Catholic school. Saw about 15 people I knew at the show from the old days.

One thing I find hilarious is my buddy is in Necrofier, a black metal band and he really looks the part, who was one of the openers, and I remember partying with him out at his apartment in cypress 25 years ago when he had a racing Honda Civic and clean cut haircut etc. Life is wild.

It was loud as hell (relatively) from our hood across the freeway. I appreciate many kinds of music...even if it's something I wouldn't go to myself. And I like how my metal friends are all at least a little bit twisted (even if it wouldn't necessarily show in their current "grown up" life apperance).

Yea I was about 1 of 20 normal looking dudes there. So many performatively dressed weirdos.

Also everyone should be American Death Metal maxxing

This is the way. I refuse to pay for parking, and getting out is easier over there as well. Get some steps in and enjoy the lovely view above traffic on 45.

We have always done this as well. Sometimes we even park farther away and ride bikes over.

I've thought of riding from the grove, where do you park the bikes?

Big bike rack out in front of the entrance to the lawn, near the security line...only way we've ever done it.
