Haven't been to anything at NRG in a minute- when did parking for concerts get crazy expensive? Going to see Bruno Mars next week and the auxiliary lots are $54 and stadium adjacent lots are $90.

Not an lolpoor, but those prices are insane for a publicly funded venue where the county owns all of the parking in the area. When it costs almost as much to park as it does to see a show, that's insane.

Now stepping off my soapbox.

Park in a nearby neighborhood and uber. Getting out of the lots after events can take hours.

Even better plan:
1. Arrive hours before the event and park on La Concha for free.
2. Uber to dinner at Aquarium.
3. Ride the ferris wheel with significant other.
4. Uber to NRG.
5. Watch show.
6. Walk to car afterwards and leave.

What if I told you it's $25 just to park for a mediocre event at NRG Center?

The old Toys-r-us parking lot isn't that bad and it clears out better after games.

Park downtown for free/cheap. Take train to NRG.

My wife and I do similar for the rodeo, but park at the Scurlock garage in the med center. FYI, when returning, if the Scurlock Tower lobby is closed, the upper levels of the garage can also be accessed by an elevator at the Marriott hotel porte cochere.

Evidently, lots of you jack holes do this.

My wife had a double lung transplant last year. Spent 7 weeks in the hospital that spanned rodeo. Nurses and staff commented how bad it was and they couldn't get a parking place.

Do not do this OP...

I'm so sorry for you and your wife, I hope that her recovery is going smoothly. Just to clarify, this was over a weekend where the attached office buildings were mostly empty and there was a ton of parking spaces available in the garage. I wouldn't have attempted to do this if the garage was remotely close to full, and likewise wouldn't have attempted to park at one of the hospital garages.

Scurlock is one of the "attached hospital garages". The weekend doesn't matter. If anything, park in the OPC garage. Out Patient Center.

Scurlock is one of the MHC contract garages. Since we were gonna be down there for awhile, they allowed me to pay $80/mo instead of a day rate for Scurlock. One afternoon during Rodeo, I arrived to relieve my SIL and Scurlock was full. Had to park in the OPC and pay another $12.

Still a crappy thing to do IMHO.

Thanks for the concern. She is doing remarkably well. We are fortunate to have world class care in our backyard...

I really appreciate the info! Knowing that, definitely won't park there the next time around.

When I was getting treated at Methodist for most of a summer we mostly parked in the attached garage. Garage 1 I think? We bought a pass that was $300 or something for the month

A year later I went in for a surgery. Was only supposed to be in three days. Ended up with two infections and was in for two weeks. When it was time to leave, my wife went down to the cashier (this was when you still got a little paper parking stub from the machine at the gate arms) and said "we ended up being here a lot longer than expected".

The cashier said "oh, I'm sorry you lost your ticket. I'll have to charge you for a full day since you lost your ticket!"

Good of him to do that.

I'd park on La Concha or DT and ride the rail (after a pregame beer at the Saucer), but didn't have time when taking the kids to see Forrest Frank recently, so I bought a $50 spot at a midrise just past El Tiempo on 610.

The location looked closer on Stubhub, an additional $20+ in fees were added in, and I could have just paid $50 in cash on the spot, but I was worried about there being no cash lots with how popular the show was.
