Anyone here either breed or know someone that has rabbits?

We adopted one as a rehome last fall for our kids. We chanced upon Oreo when looking at the pet stores and were lucky to have him. He unfortunately met an early end yesterday when he got out of the house unknown to us and a dog got him.

Would rather adopt one, or get one from a local person as opposed to the box stores.
Figured an Ag here may know someone. Willing to pay but nothing looking for show quality or breed lines, just a good happy pet to bring back joy to the kiddos.

I know someone with meat rabbits…I could ask if they'd sell any and you could call it a rescue.

Ha. Im not too proud. Kids only require cuteness, I only require it be trainable to a litter box.

You will one day look back and ask yourself "What was I thinking? The pet gods smiled upon me and took my rabbit and I thumbed my nose at them and got another one. Why didn't someone warn me?"

You can consider yourself warned now. Cut bait.....walk away from rabbit ownership relatively unscathed and NEVER LOOK BACK. When you win the lottery, you don't just wad the ticket up and throw it in the trash.

Too late…, wife already picked up a rebound bunny…and the oldest girl is hooked.

Nothing to do now but embrace bunny ownership and dig in for the long-haul!
