Tire size, wheel well gap and ride height seem off. I agree there is something that is just not right. Overall, it is a decent looking car but some subtle details and scale / proportions seem off keeping it from being sexy as hell. The latest Ford GT is right, the Ferrari 296 is right, it just seems disappointing because they went mid engine and had a clean sheet of paper to make it beautiful, and I think they just missed on it.
I will concede, the Vette designers forced more daily driver constraints on themselves because of the anticipated price point and sales volume on the base cars, like the stupid crap about it has to fit 2 golf bags, and it has to be able to do normal curbs without a front lift system. These things hurt the overall form in the name of every-man usability for the volume trims. The upper trims typically get enough extra aggressive fascias, wings, and side strakes that some of the base car issues are masked. But they look boy racer aggressive in a way the Ford GT and the Ferraris don't have to. Again, totally different market constraints due to the expected price and volume, but when that is your closest competition for mid-engine performance cars, the comparisons will be made.
I'm also more a fan of sweeping curves instead of hard creases, but that is an individual preference that should not be part of the discussion.
I give it a B- in base trim.
Performance at all levels is incredible, but I'm not in love with the looks. But that is subjective as hell, and YMMV.
