Some guy ran a red light about 4+ seconds after it turned. Hit my front passenger side in middle of intersection. All airbags deployed. Totaled?

I am guessing $24k and not totaled unless the frame is bent. Doesn't look to me like he caught enough of the quarter panel to have bent the frame, but I guess you will find out.

I had a very similar wreck in our '23 GX460 with nearly identical damage and it was totaled.

All airbags deployed? Totaled would be my guess… but agree it might take frame damage.

We hit a deer and it was over $12,400 in our 2019 expedition.

My understanding was that typically the insurance companies didn't consider totaling until you got above about 50-60% of the vehicle value unless there was unrepairable damage like a bent frame. I am assuming a 2023 Expedition is probably still worth north of $50k, so under $25k in repairs would not total it.

I'd do everything to make sure it's totaled.

Totaled. That sucks. We had our Expedition totaled in a similar accident back in '21 right after we bought it. Between frame damage, all airbags deploying, and engine harness damage, it was enough to replace. Didn't look bad, but the hit was super hard (pushed the car pretty good) and maimed it in all the right places. It took us a long time to go between body shop and insurance before they wrote it off. The body shop would take parts off, assess additional damage, wait for insurance to respond, and repeat.

Hope there were no injuries.

Did an Illegal hit you, or did they actually have insurance?

I don't know their immigration status but, no, they don't have insurance per my insurance. They gave the cops fake information it appears.

How does that happen? I feel like the cops should be able to look this up? Sucks op. Sorry to hear this.

And the cops will never go after them for it. Had a guy out on parole cause a wreck with me, run away, come back and damage a wrecker, then run away again before ultimately running from and getting caught by police. He gave them insurance info for his girlfriend's car that he was driving that turned out to be false because she was dropped from the policy 6 months earlier. Cops did nothing about the girlfriend providing them false info.

Every time I see how unrepairable modern cars are, maybe it's always been that way, I just picture a national deficit type ticker showing my insurance costs skyrocketing up.

No ***** Good analogy. Unfortunately, they basically stop making parts for old cars that you can work on yourself.

what old car can you not get parts for today? and I mean old car that was mass produced, not some limited run import.
