Any doctors/nurses? Sudden onset of significant edema in legs and mid-section

I'm a 43 year old non-smoking male weighing around 350. I take nebivolol for blood pressure, duloxetine for anxiety/depression, aripiprazole to help the duloxetine, and rosuvastatin for cholesterol.

Over the course of the past 3-4 weeks, I have suddenly developed significant edema in my legs and mid-section....to the point where weeping sores have opened up on both legs. They feel like they weigh 400 lbs each, and I just feel extremely bloated...especially when I'm trying to get in and out of bed, or in and out of my truck.

Accompanying this edema has been a serious loss of appetite, significant insomnia every night, lots of sweating, and smelly, foamy urine.

I'm a bit frightened with the sudden onset of this edema. I have an appointment with my general practice physician on Thursday. Should I just wait to see what he has to say, or should I go ahead and check myself into the hospital to get this fluid off of me and to diagnose what the root cause of it is?

You need a w/u that will take too long as an outpt. I would go to a hospital

Not a medical provider but I would have headed to the hospital a couple weeks ago. Open sores, foamy urine, etc. would have me not wanting to wait for a GP to tell me to go to the ER on Thursday.

This reads like you're having potentially life threatening kidney issues to me.

I am not a medical provider, but I would strongly suggest the ER. The foamy urine can be a strong sign of kidney issues, and the open sores are an infection risk. They need to get you worked up and protected from internal damage and external infection asap.

Agree with everyone else here. My primary concern would be nephrotic syndrome (excess protein loss in urine), which can lead to blood clots, infections, and kidney failure. You need blood and urine tests today and other work up depending on those results.

Go to the ER, today.

My dad was morbidly obese and started getting swelling in his legs and he didn't get it checked out and he ended up with pulmonary edema which nearly killed him. I would go to the ER and get it checked out.
