Saw it. Thought it was pretty good. Definitely worth the price of admission. Not monumentally good, but solid.

Curious what others think?

I watched the movie last night and really enjoyed the storyline. I've always been fascinated by weather, so it was great to see the process of plotting storms in real time using the tools from the 1940s.

I also loved the old D-Day footage, especially the broadcast of Eisenhower's speech used towards the end of the film. It really added to the overall atmosphere of the 1940s.

Twenty-five years ago, Damien Lewis portrayed Lt. Winters, who was preparing to jump on D-Day. Now, he takes on the role of Monty, who is determined to get his men onshore for the big show.

I thought it was good. I knew they had pushed D-Day from the fifth to the sixth due to weather, but I didn't know a lot of the backstory of it. Assuming most of that is true it was very interesting. At the time what they were doing for data was impressive for then, but really very archaic by today standards. It's amazing they found the window.

I did like the quote at the end from Eisenhower that we had better meteorologist than the Germans.

Quote:

This historical anecdote highlights the crucial role that The National WWII Museum weather forecasts played in Operation Overlord. Eisenhower's chief meteorologist, Scottish Royal Air Force Captain James Stagg, correctly predicted a brief, 36-hour break in the stormy weather, advising Eisenhower to delay the invasion from June 5 to June 6, 1944.

The German meteorologists also saw the incoming storms, but they missed the significance of that small window of calm and were so confident the Allies wouldn't attack that top commanders, like Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, took leave

I had just watched a documentary on Rommel and they had mentioned this about him leaving right at that time.
I don’t get enough credit for the things I manage not to say.

I thought that was interesting too. He sure had a very feminine smarmy British accent in this, not like his real British accent that is much more polished and then of course he played an American Band of Brothers.

When I was watching Pressure, I was thinking, but Captain Winters, you did so well on D-Day.

And yes, you could tell they interjected real footage in there, but they did it very well that it wasn't so awkward and standing out.
