Key quotes from Jameill Showers interview

“My thing was that if I just wanted to be on a team, I would have no problem staying here. But my dream since I was five years old was to start at the college level and hopefully make it to the NFL."

“It was really tough to leave the things we're doing now at A&M. All my friends are here and it's close to home."

"Coach Sumlin was really supportive. He completely understood my decision. I have a good relationship with him and respect him a lot."

"I'm taking 12 hours right now, and then I'll take a two more classes in May. Then I'll have three more classes left I'll knock out in the summer. I’ll probably knock those out during the first session and go wherever I decide to go for the second one."

“I’ve had three or four schools that I’ve contacted, or they have called me or wrote me on Facebook. I sent out a list to a few schools myself as well.”

"I just want to throw the ball and get into a system that is quarterback friendly."

"After the Florida game, everything kind of clicked for us. I don't think anybody thought we would do what we did."

"No matter what, I always want to be the best. I'm just going to keep working to be the best and see where that leads me."

"The only thing standing in the way of A&M winning a national championship is A&M. I don't see anyone stopping us."

Lots of respect for this kid. Had to make a tough decision, but it's right for his future and career. Can't imagine how hard it is to leave all this behind.

He should be able to start somewhere. He has a great arm and a nice throw.

Can't watch right now. Does he have to sit out a year like Brandon Williams? Can he just jump in and start playing like I've seen a couple QBs do? What determines one versus the other?

Great guy! I hate to see him leave, but it is the best thing for his future. I loved watching his throws...he has a canon for an arm. He will be great for a team that needs him.

I just hope you say "Texas A&M University" when we see you in the NFL, Showers. We'll all be rooting for you.

Thanks and Gig Em, sir.

He'd probably start for 85+% of D1 programs, so he'd be crazy to stay here.

A former student, not a transfer, playing for another school. Wouldn't it be a hoot to play against him in a bowl game?

I wish there was a way for this situation to work out. I'll be a Showers fan wherever he ends up.

I'll have two teams to root for next year: the Ags, and whomever Showers ends up with. Great guy, great AGGIE, and wish him all the best!

I listened to this live and I came away not liking him nearly as much as I did before. Sounds like he pouted the whole season and depressed the people close to him. I think he could have come across much more supportive of the team but instead sounded very selfish. Was sad to hear it.

Tceh and Beyleur are obvious but is he looking towards the BIG or PAC12? He could be sweet at Wazzu with Pirate Mike.

He'll always be an Aggie! Best of luck to him! I'll be pulling for him wherever he goes. Baylor, Tech, or TCU would be foolish not to start him!

So glad Showers will graduate an Aggie! Wish him nothing but the best in everything he does, he has handled it like a true Aggie, with class. Exactly the kind of kid Sherman and Sumlin recruit, character guys.
