Athlon is first out that I can see and they are reporting that we are # 9 nationally. They have us 4th in the SEC behind Ga, tx, OU, and in front of LSU, Ole Miss, Bama and Tn. In a twist they are picking us to play OU in the 1st round of the CFP. They have us losing to OU who will then play Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.

Don't bark. I'm just reporting.

Well last year was 11-1 with a loss to the sips. So "baby" steps would be 12-0 with beating the sips.

Hopefully, we beat Texas and win at least one playoff game. In the last two years, we lost to Texas by 10 points each and dropped our bowl/CFP games by 7 points or fewer. We have to find a way to finish.

I too hope that we can defeat the University of Texas Longhorns this season for the first time in Mike Elko's tenure as Head Coach at Texas A&M University. It was disappointing when the #3 ranked Texas Aggies lost to the University of Texas 27-17 last season, followed by an abysmal 10-3 first round playoff loss to the University of Miami Hurricanes at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas. The Hurricanes were the #10 playoff seed and the Aggies the #7 seed. Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed threw for a combined zero touchdowns and four interceptions in the two football games.

It's pretty sad when you base your entire evaluation of a program on the sip game. Obsession noted.

Back on topic, here's where a few other mags have us preseason. Disclaimer is that preseason magazine predictions are basically worthless.

Sporting News = 11th nationally and 5th in the SEC
Lindy's = 12th nationally, 6th in the SEC
ESPN = 9th nationally. Oddly, their mag doesn't make predictions for conference standings.
