Wasn't he suffering from a hamstring injury from his previous game?

He got injured in his last league game I believe and it was announced a week ago he was likely not to play in either friendly before the WC. The coach said he was progressing better and MAY get a few minutes either last night or their final friendly before the Cup. Anyone acting like they got swindled is an idiot.

Also, enjoy the game last night for much more than Messi. That was fun. Not as much fun as Mexico Brazil which was a pure party, but we saw the defending World Cup Champions getting in gear for their defending run. How can we **** on that from a performance on the field aspect?

Took my grandson last night and, although he wanted to see Messi play, we had a great time. Great crowd and atmosphere.

I understand Messi was injured and likely not to play but still glad we went.

A jersey swap would suggest otherwise

Yea, the jersey swap post is kind of in poor taste, I agree. I get that it's a sign of mutual respect, but Reed and Messi are in completely different stratospheres from eachother. Wtf is Messi gonna do with an A&M Reed jersey? Absolutely nothing.

Leave it in the Kyle Field locker room and wonder why that random kid gave him a jersey

Maybe not, but what have they ever done in soccer?

I think it would have been cooler if Reed gave Messi a jersey with MESSI on the back instead!

Absolutely getting the WC shoved down our throats here in DFW.

Tickets are unaffordable. Forget about taking a family of 4 to ANY game.

ATT Stadium is required to be re- named, "Dallas Stadium" - not Arlington Stadium where afterall the people paid for it.

But, welcome to Big Bjg Big money on the world stage.

Honestly, I'm still waiting for my Dutch Orange to win one after years of therapy in their Championship losses…

Got to see the reigning champs play and it was great! Yeah it would have been great to see him play but there's more to the team than just Messi.

Maybe because I don't normally watch local stations, but it doesn't even feel like a WC summer here in Frisco.

I have no idea what you're trying to say here.
And I doubt I'm the only one.

I mean, was it even a jersey swap? Reed had a Messi jersey on, with his little Tennessee 10 chain, and gave Messi his jersey as he was trying to get the field. It was not mutual. Appeared that Messi was asked to pose with a fan.

Is that a question? And what type of engineering did you study?

Same here in Houston. But again, I don't watch or listen to any kind of local news.

I'll tell you about a gut punch tho:

Summer 1994. Excited to see the GOAT play in his last World Cup. What should be a dismantling of Bulgaria. But no, hours before the game Diego Maradona gets popped for a(nother) drug violation and I watch Argentina lose 0-2.

Yes, I realize this is the Aggie football board and the topic is related.

Just got home from Kyle Field. Had a great time and also feel like I just experienced one of the biggest rug pulls of my life. All the marketing materials to drive revenue and tickets sales had Messi on them.

The guy didn't even play, I watched little girls in Messi jerseys leaving Kyle Field in shambles crying.

The good news is the $300 we spent on 10 beers and 4 hot dogs may have helped buy us another linebacker or strong safety.

What a ****ing joke.

Do you whine this much about everything in life or just soccer and uncontrollable injuries? No one forced anyone to go to that match. I don't know squat about the sport and I was near 100% positive a couple of weeks ago he wasn't going to play. If their parents did not prepare them for that distinct possibility (if not likelihood), that's on them. If there were indeed little girls crying, I sure hope that's the worst thing that happens to them in their life. Heck, there's a good chance it wasn't the worst thing that happened to them that day.

Get a grip, dude.
