Howdy Ags. It's that time of year for fertilizer and overseeding. I have a big plug aerator that brings up a thumb size plug of soil to help compaction. This opens the soil for better drainage, breaks out the thatch to let your grass roots grow deeper, and brings nutrients up. Generally perform this once a year around April/May in our area. (Not around sprinklers or shallow wires etc). Or twice a year (again around October) if you have animals grazing further compacting the soil. Email me your address and size of property for an estimate. I can view location on Google Earth. Usually $75 - $150 an acre depending on size and layout of property. Send a screenshot of your property. And minimum depending on location.

Ground has to be the right combination of firm enough to support the tractor so no rutting and soft enough so the implement can cut into the soil. No rocky soils. Implement and tractor are not for sale.

So silly question, should this be done just in a residential yard?

And is that what service you're offering?

For residential you can likely rent a machine from local box store. My aerator is 72" wide and weighs A LOT on the back of a 3xxx series John Deere tractor. Unless your yard is purdy big.....

But yes I do my yard once a year and my horse pasture twice a year. It has the same or better effect as fertilizer and longer term benefits for a healthier yard with deeper roots and better drainage.

I do this mostly on 2.5 plus acre properties all the way up to bigger 40 plus acre pastures. But if you have a smaller 1 acre that a big machine can work in then of course I am glad to do it for a minimum charge. Just has to make sense for me to trailer my equipment out to do it.....vs renting the walk behind from local equipment rental.

How does this affect sprinkler heads in the yard?

Like it says in my original post .... we cannot do it over sprinkler heads or shallow wires....or shallow pipes. It is a plug spike and goes down into the soil 4" or more.

If you flag areas to avoid we can easily go around em.

Perfect time after this rain. Get on my schedule and we can get it done. Headed to Freeport tomorrow to do some properties.

Hogs already handle this for me. Which reminds me I need to shoot a few.

It's a good idea, but not what he's offering. You can rent a walk behind at Home Depot and if you're lucky try and find a day laborer. I like to rake the plugs as well which is a biznatch.

Contacted SGrem on Saturday, he was out Sunday morning and knocked out about 5 acres for me in College Station! Great communication, great job all the way around.

I have a combination of a rural yard, and additional acreage I keep mowed. Exactly what I needed!

Thank you Sir!
