I'm in need of work in the San Antonio area, I'm from Poth. I've been an IT Specialist for 22 years. As a tech, as a lead tech for projects, and PM for major upgrades to HEB's infrastructure. I've been in IT since high school, thru TAMU at the department of Economics, thru Graduating in the inaugural class in BS of Science in Technology Management. I'm a hard working country boy, educated, cultured, and hold no biases. I supported the executives including the Butt family for years. I fish, deer hunt, ranch, I'm not the normal IT guy. I won the IT specialist customer award in2017and nominated 3 other years.

Please take a look at South Texas Electric Cooperative(stec.org) which would put you at Nursery, Tx outside of Victoria at the headquarters (hey it's on the river out in the country!). The staff, head to toe is full of small town country types and it's a family-oriented organization. We are in desperate need of IT staff. Moving up within the company is encouraged once you get established, etc. Many folks are getting up there in age so mgmt-level opportunities will exist in the near future.

The pay is competitive and benefit package is excellent with a 401K plan AND a pension plan through NRECA. Utilities are never going away so basically recession-proof.

Have you looked at positions at Southwest Research Institute in SA? Some divisions have hybrid options where you only have to go into the office a few days per week. www.swri.org

Back in the good old days when they weren't running the power plant, they say the guys used to set lines, etc and check them throughout the night. Times have changed though unfortunately.

Not near enough fun being had.

We still run lines, jugs, trees and stretched across the river.

I got caught on one of those lines in '97 while competing in a canoe race on the Guadalupe. I remember getting a hook in my ankle and another in my back.

I dont have contacts in the San Antonio area but good luck with your search and hang in there, man.
