Crane needs to take a look at the pitching lab too

is the lab changing deliveries and/or changing the pitches thrown (too much)?

Sousa has thrown 58% sliders in 2025

he threw 43% sliders in 2023 according to statcast

does it make a difference?

the organization has to review that -- independently of the pitching lab

Can we get Jose some holographic goggles or something to make it appear to him that the opponent is always wearing Yankees pinstripes?

Home fans just need to start booing him hard.

Maybe just take a recording of the crowd from NY booing and calling him "cheater" and make it his walk-up song at home?

???

Pitching injuries are up across the league. It's the crossroad between spin rate, velocity, and max effort in very pitch. It isn't just the Astros.

Look all the RP and SP on this list:
https://www.espn.com/mlb/injuries

Do you think Crane is going tell the lab to stop doing what they are doing when they have consistently had some of the lowest starting and BP ERAs over the last decade while picking up guys off the scrap heap year over year and doing it relatively cheaply?

I understand your point, but to me, unless the rest of the league is going to tell their pitchers to back off 5% of effort and rechange their pitch mix to reduce injury risk, it would be a detriment to the Astros to be less effective and leading in that effort.

We seriously should consider signing Pressly at this point

Hope the big boys egos on both sides can man up and move past last years drama

FWIW - the only place I've really heard about there being "drama", etc is right here on TexAgs.

There was frustration, but by all accounts he's a good teammate and someone the guys enjoyed having around.

I don't expect there to be much interest in a reunion though.

Sounds about right. Classic TexAgs.

The media pushed the "drama" narrative. A number of folks here did pick it up and run with it, however.

Yeah, there was certainly frustrations, but those had more to do with his performance and some of the communication between the staff and Pressly. Not sure on specifics, but the communication issues seemed to stem from a rookie manager learning on the job.

Unrelated to the current discussion at hand, but I just did the daily walkoff for today, and I had zero idea that Yuli was in the Top 5 for postseason stolen bases.

Never would have guessed that

Top 5 for Astros? He has 5 in 85 games.

Think how much the steal was diminished until a couple of years ago. In the post-season, nobody was doing it for several years. In 2017, the Astros had 4 total stolen bases in 18 playoff games.

Saw my media buddy last night for our fantasy football draft and he said Press is hurt. That's why nobody has signed him.

That was the only column I missed. I had Springer in for top 5 steals and Yuli for top 5 HRs. And I had those backwards

Christian Walker

However, leads the team in SOs and has a negative bWAR.

At least the Padres are in the heat of a playoff run. So, they will play the Seamen hard.

I think it's more likely that Correa shifts to 2B.

Paredes is apparently not great at 2B.

Kind of a waste of Carlos's talent and arm, but probably makes for a better infield construction

I think it's much more likely he is the DH with Jose at 2B and Yordan in LF.
