I just follow the Stros, Giants and Red Sox.

Don't remember hearing about any big free agent activity for them.

Is this just good homegrown talent?

A J Hinch is the best manager is baseball, and he knows how to put a championship team together.

Never been a Tigers fan but do enjoy seeing them be successful. How can you not like a team Ty Cobb played for.

Plus those 70s uniforms and caps were freaking awesome.

It's a combination of a lot of things.
They're very platoon-heavy. Think 2021 Giants or most Rays seasons the last decade.
They nailed the Gleyber signing. He's been a huge boost.
They fixed Javy after being a complete bum the last few years.
Their former star prospect finally figured things out (Tork).
They have maintained health for position players.
Skubal picked up right where he left off last year.
Signing Flaherty back was a good move, and finding Enns from the KBO is working out nicely too.
They're riding a strong bullpen they built over the last few seasons.
AJ is a damn good manager.

Rumor is he actually interviewed for the Aggie job last summer and was interested but Trev went with Earley.

Yup. He's gone from good to borderline MVP candidate.

So you are telling me you find it implausible that a guy who has never coached college baseball a day in his life interviewed for our job while smack in the middle of the season managing a major league ballclub? Probably equal chance that we interviewed Sparky Anderson
