We're heading to Sin City, not to sin, but for pickleball on Aug. 27th!

I searched the forum for some restaurant rec's, but only found 2023 and older. Things may have changed!

What's the best places to eat now-a-days, both top notch places and then some for value??

On or off the strip, doesn't really matter to us.

Thanks!

I'll give you my two cents - for steak, you will probably read a lot about the Golden Steer. My wife and I went there a little over a year ago and we were underwhelmed. Close to $300 for the both of us, which included a cocktail each. I had a filet that was the quality of what you would get at a Lowe's Food Market. My wife had the surf and turf. Her steak was OK, but the surf (lobster tail I think) was overly salty and cold when it came out. I will say that the table side Caesar salad prep was impressive and the Bananas Foster was also really good; however, for the price we paid I expected better quality.

For steaks, I've heard the steakhouse at Circus Circus is supposed to be really good. Gordon Ramsay's Pub and Grille in Caesar's has a really solid Beef Wellington.

For seafood, we like Ocean Prime (great steaks and chilled seafood tower) and also Maestro's Ocean Club.

We always eat at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris for breakfast. Hash House a Go Go in the Linq is supposed to be another good breakfast spot, but we haven't eaten there.

There are two subreddits r/vegas and r/lasvegas where there are a lot of restaurant discussions.

We were there in May, and I was overwhelmed by the food choices. Frankly, most of the places looked the same/very similar, and I had a hard time finding things that I felt were "different". Everything just seemed kind of ordinary (and expensive). We were there with a group for a birthday weekend, so several of our meals were arranged for us.

With that said, it sounds corny, but we went to Hofbrauhaus on the day we arrived and throughly enjoyed it. It wasn't crowded, and the food was good and plentiful. Also enjoyed the beer.

We ate at Lemongrass (inside ARIA) and it was pretty good. We ended up doing a bunch of appetizers, just to try different things. I wasn't in the mood for steak or Italian, so this was a good option. Also, we were able to get a reservation here a Saturday night (advance reservations in Vegas are a MUST, based on our experience)

Also did brunch at LPM Restaurant (inside the Cosmopolitan). I chose this because they have a 9 course brunch tasting menu. We really enjoyed the food - you get a wide variety of courses, so a taste of everything. The lobster eggs Benedict was fantastic, and the amount of food was plentiful. But the service was horrible. So bad that they wound up comping all of our drinks (table for 6). I wouldn't let that deter you, just sharing our experience.

The days of bargains on the Las Vegas Strip have long been over. But lately, casinos have been finding more and more ways to get Strip visitors to spend more of their money.

That includes higher prices on just about everything inside the casino and on the Strip. And then there are the dreaded fees: resort fees, parking fees, early check-in fees even fees for flatware and silverware on room-service orders.

It may be one reason why gaming revenues and visitation are down this year, though not by huge percentages.

Still, longtime visitors and social media users have expressed their anger and frustration, even threatening to stop coming to Las Vegas. They say they are being gouged.

Is the gaming industry going to do anything about it? In short: Yes. Room rates are coming down and promotions from multiple casino companies are being directed towards tourists and staycation-friendly locals. But will it be enough to lure back folks who swear they're staying away from the Strip?

Some notable takeaways:

"[The post-pandemic Strip] ended up with the perfect storm of the casinos having high prices, having something that people wanted to see, and now they also have increased expenses that they have to continue to pay for," said Las Vegas Review-Journal gaming reporter David Danzis. "So what we are seeing now is the operators trying to figure out a way to continue to be sustainable going forward as they face all of these factors. And now, there's declining visitation. We are seeing declining gaming revenue, and that's resulting in layoffs and restructuring throughout the casinos. [So now] we're starting to see these deals, these promotions, these offers from the operators for things like free parking or deals for locals, they're starting to realize that maybe we've not just reached a tipping point, we've actually hit a breaking point."
"[Casinos are] doing what any business would do, [which] is what the market will bear," said Anthony Curtis, publisher of the consumer-friendly Las Vegas Advisor website and newsletter. "Problem is, the markets are starting to not bear this. We're getting feedback from our customers in emails and in chat rooms and things like that that they've just had enough. A lot of them are saying, 'I'm just not coming back.'"
"If I zoom out from Las Vegas for a second, and I think about the U.S. as a whole, and I think about other major metropolitan destinations for travel, Vegas is still an incredible value, right?" said Josh Swissman, founding partner and managing director of GMA Consulting, which does gaming/hospitality research and consulting. "Yes, fees are higher. Yes, a cheeseburger is more expensive than it used to be, but if you compare that cheeseburger here to that cheeseburger in New York, it is still going to be a tremendous value. If you look at the room here compared to that room that you might stay in Orlando, it is still a great value. And I think at the end of the day, that's part of what makes Vegas Vegas. It's easy to access and still a relative value, and that's why I'm still bullish on Vegas in the long run."

In addition to the higher costs in Vegas these days causing a downturn in gambling visitors, there might be fewer gambles travelling there in part because there seem to be casinos in just about every state nowadays. For the hardcore gambler, it's an easier trip to a local casino than incurring the cost of travelling to Vegas to spend their same gambling dollars. Which means more dollars in their pockets for gambling locally.

The Resorts World restaurants are really good across the board.

Fuhu and Carversteak stand out above them.

Hugo's Cellar, if you want a great steak with the flair of old school Vegas. Fancy place, waiters have been there since the 70s. They make the salads at your table. You get a rose for every table. Drinks are out of this world. It's a true Vegas time capsule. The steaks really are out of this world good. They don't advertise, it's a true hidden gem of Vegas. Located in the 4 Queens downtown. Make a night of it. Get a great steak and enjoy Fremont street after. Also, go to Circa and check out the largest sportsbook in the world. I love downtown Vegas.

And a weird drink I loved -- the London Sour.

Cabernet sauvignon, Taffer's brown butter boubon and fresh lemon juice.

I'm a huge Bobby Flay fan so we went to both Brasserie B and Amalfi in Caesars.

Both were good -- not great. A bit touristy of course. But I would go again.

Bouchon at the Venetian is the best brunch I've had in my life by a long shot. It is a Thomas Keller restaurant on the 10th floor.

Tomato soup - life changing. Scrambled eggs on my wifes american breakfast - how can scrambled eggs taste like THAT!!! Chicken and waffles - always disappointing elsewhere but this was a religious experience. Honestly the only thing that was just ok was the crab eggs benedict. It wasn't bad, just underwhelming agains the other dishes mentioned.

Agree re: the Golden Steer. It's a place you go to say you've been, but our experience was bad. It was over an hour after our tableside ceasar salad before our steaks arrived. I had maitre d' butter on my ribeye. They had so much that the steak lost its char and was soggy. Flavor wasn't bad on anything we ate, it just wasn't worth the hype and wait.

Staff - take out the trash.

Would also recommend Bouchon for brunch.

If you want to go all out for dinner and have a unique experience, try Twist by Pierre Gagnaire at the top of the Waldorf Astoria or Guy Savoy. Both will cost you, but both are Michelin star restaurants that will blow your socks off.

Herbs & Rye off the strip. Thank me later.

FYI - Herbs & Rye offers half-priced steaks during their happy hour, which is from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again from 11:59 PM to 3:00 AM

Place is not much to look at on the outside. But inside its great - they make serious cocktails, and the steaks and food are good.

Meat menu - second price is the "happy hour" price

looks like Cleaver is a higher price point - I'm assuming because its closer to the strip. You can probably walk there from some high end hotels - you can't walk to Herbs & Rye

Cleaver is very good, great HH prices on steaks and has wine list at reasonable prices.
For Italian off strip go to IAC - Italian American Club. Good food, rat pack vibes lounge and solid service.
The Steak House at Circus Circus is decent.
Amalfi by Bobby Flay in Ceasars Forum Shops is excellent for seafood.

Chubby Cattle for KBBQ. Call ahead to see if they got their liquor license. If not you can bring your own alcohol.

Golden Steer for old school Vegas steakhouse and Australian lobster tails.

We were there for a week during ACEP and those were the ones I remember. Skip Nobu at Caesars. Not good and over priced.

If you are feeling Asian, Din Tai Fung at Aria and Best Friend at Park MGM are very good.
