Hi, Taking group of 8 to Fenway park for 2 games this May 1-2 and looking for advise on hotels/airbnb. Have found hotel for 3 rooms that is approx $3K total and about 1.5 miles away. Not not sure if walkable or should go out further and get airbnb and uber. Budget for lodging is around $3K range. Thanks for your comments!

Hey there! I lived in RI for a summer and went to Sox games all the time. I also do a lot of New England travel for folks.

Fenway isn't really that close to the rest of the sights I imagine you'll want to see when not at the games.

The green line (I believe) has a stop right next to Fenway, which is what I always did. Super convenient!

If I were you I'd stay in Back Bay, Beacon Hill or North End. You'll be closer to the restaurants and other highlights the city has to offer.

Happy to answer other questions or help find a place. Best of luck!

The last time we went, we stayed in Back Bay and took the subway to Fenway and then walked back after the game to avoid the crowds.

I went to a conference in Boston last May and stayed at the Sheraton Boston hotel in the back bay area and it was an easy walk to and from Fenway for a vendor event we had at the Bleacher Bar under the Green Monster.

Echo others here, back bay is good and central to other attractions and areas. I did the Sheraton mentioned above on last visit, it's not bad. Do the Fenway tour.

We went last August. We stayed at the Liberty Hotel which is an old converted jail. Really cool. Definitely do the 8am Fenway tour. We rode Subway to the game and back to the Hotel. The secret after the game is to walk alittle bit to catch the subway one stop before Fenway: Boston U Central instead of Kenmore. Then you're on with a seat before the masses.

I would not let proximity to Fenway be the driving factor in where you stay in Boston.

I will add that we stayed at Longwarf and everything was walkable. We did take the subway to Fenway and to Brookline, but walked all of the "touristy" stuff. We also did a day trip to Martha's Vineyard which was really cool. Picked us up at our hotel and dropped us at the ferry, we had all day on the island then they brought us back to the front door of the hotel.

this. It is very easy to get around Boston using the subway or just walking.

ETA; this thread now has me pissed off. I want to go back this summer. I love Boston and Fenway. The town is so accessible and has everything I like. Great food, beer, baseball, bars, water/boats and of course great history.

We only went for the 3 game series with our beloved Dodgers, but stayed 4 more days and were pleasantly surprised. We had low expectations but the food and sightseeing was awesome. All three of us gave it a resounding thumbs up and will probably go again. We may even go up to Maine this time.

Do it! Kannebunkport, Portland, & Camden aren't more than a couple hours away. Beautiful coastal towns. Acadia NP is closer to 5-6 hours but worth the drive.
