South Carolina will be without their second leading scorer Ta'Niya Latson and without one of their key pieces who started the last two games in Agot Makeer. Along with Chloe Kitts who's out for the season, they'll only have 9 girls available, 5 of those who average less than 15 minutes a game. Will it matter, most likely not. I fear it will only heighten their productivity and let their stars get in a rhythm. I also think Joni will still be scared to press a short handed team anyways. They'll still have 6'7, 6'6, 6'5, 6'4 and 6'3. Only two girls available under 6 feet tall.

Their injuries are most likely precautionary given the opponent and how next week they have Tennessee and LSU. The spread will still be over 40 most likely despite the injuries. They'll be forced to have starters in the entire game. Our only hope would be Dawn Staley taking it easy on her long time assistant Darius Taylor and her best friend Joni or South Carolina just looking past an awful opponent, maybe then we cover. The difference between a respectable loss and a 50 point loss will be foul trouble. South Carolina loves to score in the paint. They love to work it inside to their bigs and their guards are so quick off the dribble. Can Janneh and Ware stay out of foul trouble. Janneh has 4 or 5 fouls in 6 of our 8 conference games. If we're stuck with Franchini, Parker, or Steenbergen in the post. South Carolina may score on 90% of their possessions.

They don't shoot a lot of threes aside from Tessa Johnson. She shoots 46% from three. For reference we have two people over 30% at 31% and 30%. I assume we'll run a zone most of the game. If we forget about her it will get ugly. They'll also feed their bigs and use them in a 2 women game inside the paint. Texas and LSU exposed our zone, but it's all we can do against top teams. We'll see if we've improved on it.

It would be smart to press a short handed team out two of their starting guards. Mizzou was short handed but we waited till we were down 20+ to press them. South Carolina has 9 players, you can attempt to wear them down with a press. But I don't think Joni will run a press. We also can't afford Pryor picking up reach in fouls.

Welp Janneh gets her second foul 5 minutes into the game

Decent start for us. SC was up 8-7. Then we gave up 2 straight fast break layups.

At 12-7 SC, Janneh picks up an early 2nd foul and it will be down hill from here as Janneh and Pryor have all of our points so far but Janneh will now come out for Franchini.

One of the better student crowds for us. So 90 / 10 or more for us. A sprinkle of SC fans but nothing like LSU would bring.

Down 20-13 after 1Q. That is about as good a quarter as I could have hoped for from us. SC is just better. Franchini and Spencer gave us better minutes than they normally do. They played unafraid whereas before they had been skittish.
