I never understood not appreciating an opposing fan base that took the time and expenses to travel to your home venue. It's good for the local economy and there's a genuine delight in being amicable hosts (everywhere but except on the field). For some reason, this civil concept seems to be lost of the majority of tcehies.

drone show, throwing knives at the Kansas staff. red smoke on the field, looked like a soccer match in belgrade serbia. The KU coach's expression was "wtf-ing f"

tech defiantly refuses to act like they've been there.

I think it is long past time for the tortilla throwing to stop. Let me be clear on that.

But until someone produces a pocket knife, a photo of the pocket knife, a police report of a thrown pocket knife, or something like that, I'm calling BS on this.

Why? I think it's a fun tradition that doesn't hurt anybody. Went to the Tech-UH game last week and even the Houston fans were laughing at it even though they were getting beat.

Now I want the idiots who throw dangerous objects to be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Yeah, ole Lance Leipold looks like a tortilla could throw him off is game.

This pocket knife seems as mythical as the infamous batteries.

It's wasteful and messy and the opposing teams ***** about it. Not that I particularly care about the *****ing but this just seems to bring about bad press at a time when so many really amazing things are happening at Tech.

If I'm a tech alum I'm leaning into this. get to work engineering tortilla drones, and start a franchise in DFW, red-raider pizza.

Look, we can't throw actual pizzas. That would be ridiculous. The Breaking Bad guy could only throw it up as far as his roof.

Think of tortillas as mini pizzas, and we're delivering them to the visiting team's sideline. It's a welcoming gesture, nothing more, nothing less.

Somewhat related, USAFA throws cheese slices and I've always wondered if this had some sort of tie back to tard. Although I think they might only do it for the WY game.

In the 90s students in the 3rd deck at Kyle Field would toss the Lemon Chill lids. I think it was mostly to see how far they'd go, but it was stupid and annoying.

The chemical weapons Tech launched in the 3rd quarter was at another level. Smoke filled stadium.

It's fine at the beginning of the game, but after that it needs to stop. I don't want to see any more 15 yard penalties coming from the stands in our run up to a championship. Too much at stake for that stupid nonsense.

We were there and yeah, that was dumb. SO much smoke and not nearly enough time for it to dissipate before play started back up.

The real problem with the tortilla throwing is not the initial launch, but they continue to throw them until they make their way down and down and down and onto the field.
Raiderjay
How long do you want to ignore this user?
if it is allowed to continue it should be only at the initial kickoff......The problem is how do you control people from not continuing to do it.....

And there are some who think it could also be opposing fans trying to draw the penalty, but that's hard to prove/control, too.

I know, hard to believe. I guess it depends on your definition of "windy". 20+ mph is windy. Less than that is breezy at most, but definitely not windy.

And inside a bowled stadium, not windy enough to clear the smoke.

The pocket knife thing sounds like BS because Leipold or whatever his name is likely knew that whining about tortillas would make him look like a puss.

So far this "pocket knife" accusation has had no one other than Leipold say it was thrown. One of his own assistants said they found it on the ground -- it didn't hit anyone or fly through the air toward anyone. Also by all accounts it was closed so it's not like a blade was flying around. If you read the KS newspapers their headlines talk about the "knife thrown at the Jayhawk sideline" as if someone hurled a butcher knife at them.

I'm not fan of their tortilla throwing thing -- seems a little silly to me -- but I really despise coaches who get their rear ends handed to them whining after the fact about the fans. It just reeks of a sore loser trying to take the focus off his team getting mauled.

"Kansas has been fined for disparaging comments about the Conference and a member institution, and an inaccurate statement regarding a pocketknife by head coach Lance Leipold."

Just for the sake of clarity.

Pizza delivery drivers do not make enough money to just willy-nilly throw around a perfectly good pocket knife.
