Suggestions for sealing a privacy fence

So, my fence is shared with neighbors on each side. I would like to put something on my side of the fence to keep it from looking bad. Not sure if this is a good idea? If so, what would y'all suggest? Something clear? A stain? I would be rolling it on. Years ago I stained my fence at another home

I don't think sealing one side of a fence is a good idea. You'll get uneven moisture absorption and the wood could cup and warp. That could even shorten the life of the fence.

IF in Aggieland, then suggest to neighbor The Big Event free* workers stain/seal both sides that weekend.
*free = you buy pizzas after work
