My old Honda finally gave up the ghost, so I'm in the market for a new lawnmower. I've actually purchased an EGO electric mower but despise it. My very first cut with it was horrible - uncut lines of grass between every row and circles cut in the lawn every time I made a 90 degree turn in the yard.

Honda's are almost impossible to find now and the few that do still exist are outrageously expensive and, I suspect, not as long-lived as their predecessors.

Of the remaining gas powered brands, which are the best and which ones to avoid?

My mowers have always been Honda or Toro. Been happy with both. Did not realize Honda was getting out of the consumer mower game. Interesting.

Thanks. Good to know about Toro. BTW, Honda isn't getting out, they're out. It's impossible to find one of their mowers now. I'm kicking myself because Home Depot had lowered the price on their remaining inventory radically to get rid of the last few. I saw one in my local store for around $599 a few weeks ago, but it is long gone.

In a similar boat, was deciding between an EGO and Honda 2 years ago and made the wrong choice...

I've been looking around a bit the last month... Been leaning to Toro based on what is available but really kicking myself for buying the EGO.

Interested to see responses.

I've never had issues like that with my Kobalt electric. It's quiet and cuts easily and evenly.

Bought a new Honda that I didn't need back back in February so I wouldn't kick myself for not buying one in 3 years if I did need it then. Planned on selling my old one but probably keep it for Justin.

Might check your local lawn shops. The one I bought from was priced cheaper than Home Depot and they had a few dozen.

I'm not sure what you mean by lawn shops. Do you mean independent Honda dealers?

Toro with a Briggs and Stratton engine, first lasted 12 years or so. Replaced it with another and been happy

Find a reputable 2 cycle engine repair shop. They usually have new and reconditioned gas powered for sale at the beginning and end of mowing seasons.

I use a Snapper, self propelled and it starts practically first pull every time and is a mowing beast.

I have a craftsman that has been through the ringer and still cranks up and runs on the first pull. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another
