We are going to be doing some needed upgrades and cosmetic work around the house. I'm thinking through the order to do them right now to make it easiest on the contractors and have the least chance of having to go back and re-do any of them. The three main projects are new carpet, whole house interior paining with sheetrock repairs etc. and windows.

Right now, I'm thinking windows then paint then floors.
Thinking that if the window guys mess up any of the sills or casement etc, then the painters will be able to fix. If the painters ****** out my floors, then those get fixed by the carpet guys. Anyone here have any thoughts about the order or anything I may be missing?

If you are doing it all rather quickly, you may be able to save some money by allowing the sheetrock and paint guys to not use tarps and just sacrifice your old carpet. Or, perhaps, remove the carpet before paint and put in new after. Easier to get a good paint job on the baseboards that way.

We removed old carpet before we primed and painted. We were doing ceilings too so planned on being a bit messy.

Since you're replacing your floors and won't care about being messy, you could save a ton of money just painting the vast majority of the walls and not caring about dripping in the floors, and just pay the painters for all the cut in work. I'd be very tempted to do that myself and I absolutely hate painting.

my main reason for hiring out the painting is to have the taping and bedding done by someone who is better at it than me. I'm terrible at texture and not sure I could get a good blending between new and old texturing. There are several places around the house that need attention due to settling. (Luckily no foundation issues).
Thanks for the discussion. Any other insight is appreciated

You can find a good drywall guy in FB marketplace. I had a garage apartment completely redone for 1800 in labor. Took three guys 3 days. This included hanging and texturing.
