I have a friend looking for a good divorce lawyer in the San Antonio area. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks
I'm not sure he's even practicing anymore but avoid Justin Cook, and certainly if it's contested. He's an Aggie, but he is far too passive in a contentious suit. I retained him for my agreed divorce so that was easy, but when she came back 2 years later for a child modification suit I needed a bulldog and Cook pretty much singlehandedly screwed my case. He should have had the case dismissed or set it for trial but he ended up screwing around with her attorney and suggested hiring an amicus for the kids, which meant more money for me and added practically no value to my case. I ended up firing him when he announced "not ready" at a hearing that was scheduled for weeks - the judge was annoyed.BBGigem said:
Not sure if this will be a contested divorce or not but these two are heavy hitters. I was on a jury for a child custody case with these two attorneys. Hope I never have to go through anything that contested but if I ever do, I would hire one of them after seeing them in action. I'm sure they are high priced too.
https://bernsteinlegal.com/ Jeffrey Bernstein was the attorney in the trial.
https://www.medleylawfirm.com/ Mark Medley
In case you were wondering, Medley's client won. Bernstein's client was not a nice person so that is not a knock on him.
Not cool, and if a judge finds out you did this just do disqualify other lawyers, it won't end well. That's wasting people's time and an abuse of the system.AggieArchitect04 said:
Depending on how friendly of a divorce it is, one thing you might do is go to some of the key attorneys for a consult. I think once you engage them, if she were to contact them after, they can't represent her or discuss the case. I've heard of people doing this.
