Why is our 3 point defense so bad?

338th in the country according to Torvik (40.8%). Is it our style of play/performance, or have teams just been hot from 3 against us? Hard to believe teams of the quality we've played so far could shoot 40+% from 3.

If you've ever played basketball it's always easiest to shoot when you have space and someone is jumping at you. If you're wide as open it's a little tougher for some reason. Buzz's strategy of wide ass open actually worked.

Human beings LOVE to attribute causality where random chance will suffice.

Is it fear?

I'll take it to the R&P board

We've left too many guys open, we've been a little unlucky, and we've played a couple of teams that can really shoot. Like UCF is hitting at almost at 50% for the season even if you take out their game against us. They shot 50% against us but they shot even better against Vandy and Florida A&M.

Not confident in defensive rotations yet is my thought

One play that drove me nuts last night was when we had a good half court defensive sequence that led to them inbounding the ball on the baseline with 2 secs left on the shot clock. You absolutely should be able to keep them from getting a clean look in that scenario but we didn't, they inbounded to a big and he tossed it out to the corner for an uncontested three which of course they nailed. It was in the first half… can't remember exactly when but late in 1H. That was bad basketball.
