The Aggies are out of the SEC Tournament, but safely in the NCAA Tournament, so let's relax and watch some basketball.

What's changed: Not a ton. My sweet narrative boy Florida State is gone, and now a lot of the "who we're for" today just depends on how much you trust the selection committee. If you think that they're going to get most everyone within a couple of spots on the seed line of what they deserve, then there's a path here today to be for a bid stealer, but not too many bid stealers, to potentially push Texas closer to the edge and maybe land us on the 10 line instead of the 9. But I think down that path lies danger, and would rather just pull for results that make sure we stay out of Dayton. But up to you, so I'm removing that today.

  • Choose your own adventure here. St. Louis win keeps the bubble as big as possible. A St. Louis loss guarantees two bids for the A10 (which they might get anyway) and would likely move St. Louis behind us on the seed list.
Seton Hall vs (5) St. John's - 4:30 PM - FOX - Big East Semifinal

Ole Miss vs (4) Alabama - 6 PM - SEC Network - SEC Quarterfinal

Georgetown vs (2) UConn - 7 PM - FS1 - Big East Semifinal

  • This game is late enough that we should know by then if we don't want any more bids stolen or if we're probably in the clear to pull for Nevada.

  • Would avoiding this loss be enough to lock in VCU?

  • I don't think it's completely out of the question that the winner of this games gets the last spot in the field without beating Utah State, but Oklahoma would probably need to lose and no other bid stealers win.

I think Florida's only downfall is a team like Michigan or Illinois who matches their size but also shoots the 3 ball much better. Although it's still skeptical because Michigan turns the ball over more than anyone in the Big 10 and Illinois is the worst P4 team in the country at creating them.

The top 8 are probably already set. Illinois is probably a 2 seed, the last one.

Operating under the assumption that we're clearly above the cut line and we want tu to miss the tournament, we want VCU to win up until maybe the A10 championship. They need to win a couple of games to remain above Texas.

Again, I think those 1 and 2 seeds are set. Also if Illinois drops to a 3, then the 3 seeds will have 3 Big Ten schools which will screw up seeding.

So I think the Big Ten will get a 1 seed, 2 2 seeds and 2 3 seeds.

Hope some are watching Lobos v Aztecs.

High quality play in my opinion (other than a lot of missed free throws on the part of New Mexico). It's a shame that the loser is likely out of contention for an at large invite to the NCAAT.

On the other hand, winner might get in even if they don't beat Utah State in the Mountain West Conference Championship Game.
