What's changed: Oklahoma's late season surge is likely to come up just short and a couple of bid stealers remain. Two of Texas, SMU, Auburn and Oklahoma are likely the last two in, and two of them the first two out. I think it's likely that they're exactly in that order.

Ole Miss vs (5) Arkansas - 2:30 PM - ESPN - SEC Semifinal
  • Ole Miss trying to Leroy Jenkins their way into the tournament.
St. Joseph's vs (Bubble -2) VCU - 2:30 PM - CBSSN - A-10 Semifinal
  • If VCU and St. Louis both win then the A-10 comes off the table as a bid thief league. Consensus seems to be that VCU probably gets in without the auto bid as long as they win this game.
(B +4) San Diego State vs (8) Utah State - 5 PM - CBS - Mountain West Final
  • Consensus here seems to be that San Diego State has to win this game. A San Diego State win could be what does Texas in.

I do think Bruce Pearl speaking up might actually help Auburn. The ratings on a play in game between Auburn and Miami-Ohio would be grand. A lot of people would tune in to hate watch Auburn.

I also think that if Auburn is in, then Texas and Oklahoma are out. VCU and SMU are the last two in currently.

OU or Ole Miss will be in the Sunday SEC title game to decide the Automatic bid. I assume an OU win today guarantees them a spot, so the brackets can be final before the title game is over. If Ole Miss beats OU, then the can still make it by beating Fla vs Vandy winner on Sunday. Should be fascinating because Ole Miss won't make it without the Autobid. Tu appears to be out IMO.

Conspiracy theories I'm willing to entertain today:

1) If St. Louis, Arkansas and VCU all win, the bracket is done tonight and none of the games tomorrow matter

2) If VCU wins and St. Louis doesn't, The committee will slot VCU in as the last at-large team without a bye and put Miami of Ohio in the First Four regardless of tomorrow's outcomes. (This will limit how complicated it is tonight to have multiple contingency brackets built pending the outcome of tomorrow's A-10 final.)

Okay this is how we do it people. We've got a conspiracy scenario in play either way we go. If Texas makes it well obviously it's our classic pro-Texas conspiracy. If they don't, it's only because of the huge ratings that Miami of Ohio vs Auburn would bring to the First Four! They couldn't pass that up! Not even for Texas!

I do think a Miami vs Auburn play in game would be the highest rated Dayton game ever. Tu isn't winning anything, so why not reward tough schedule Auburn vs worst schedule ever Miami Ohio with a chance to face a 6 seed like Louisville or North Carolina.

Perfection against the weakest schedule vs average against the hardest schedule. It makes to much sense which it means it won't happen but I am putting it in my bracket.

If Dayton wins it may help VCU avoid Dayton as long as they beat Dayton, but if Dayton wins that game then Dayton can't be in Dayton so it would probably send VCU to Dayton.

OMG Florida is getting slaughtered by a hot Vandy team. They are terrible, their coach (COTY) is terrible. They're probably "one and done". It's impossible to have a game of basketball that just goes the other team's way. That never happens.

Why can't Dayton play in Dayton? They shouldn't have an advantage just because they host the opening round. If that's the case then start rotating it.

Awesome finish to make a bid stealer possible in the Atlantic 10 tournament! Now, cheering for St. Joseph's to beat VCU.

And for Ole Miss to beat Arkansas (with a shot at beating Vandy tomorrow).

And, of course, San Diego State beating Utah State.
