As someone who went to the CWS championship series last year this makes me sick to see the difference in prices for games 1 and 2 this year…

Supply and demand, man. It wasn't the venue charging more.

What is the difference in price?

Supply and demand. Last year, two very desperate to win SEC fanbases.

But, yeah, my bank account is still crying.

It's actually not as high as last year, but not that far off either. On Ticketmaster the 200 level is $297 per seat. Some in section 100, $155 on StubHub.

Last year, going rate was $300+ per ticket in the outfield, and higher as you moved in.

This is for the championship series.

SRO was $50 at the gate, but you had to be in line at the crack of dawn.

Yep, I was comparing Stub hub pricing from this year to last year. Game 1 last year was $350+ when looking to buy 2 or more seats together. This year you can find them for $150 in the outfield to game 1. The same seats on level 1 third base or 1st base dugout 25-30 rows up are $400-500 cheaper than last year game 1.

I bought $50 tickets then sat right behind the Aggie Dugout for game 3, up under the awning in some empty seats. I did this for almost every game last year and I was at all but one. So many $600+ seats are just empty. Go sit in them.

When venues sell tickets Trey offer at a price that will maximize their aggregated revenue quickly. When the same tickets enter the secondary market the sellers all have different goals. And what we might call pro resellers let amateur resellers make the market they sell in.

Remember that when you try to profit off of season tickets…

The year we went, we bought the initial games and then scalped every other tickets from fans whose teams had been eliminated. However, that was a long time ago and price efficiency was our entire goal.

Supply and demand. It was the same when I bought banana tickets. When I first started looking the seats in the area I bought was initially 800 and I ended up paying 200.

I feel like I got into the banana thing approximately 10 minutes before they blew up and became unmanageable. My bachelorette party was in Savannah for one of their last home games.

The locals I talked to last year were shocked at how much money they were making selling tickets. In prior years, opening weekend and the first two games of the championship were pretty strong resell markets, but other games were pretty soft, and buyers tended to wait it out until the last minute. Last year, there was stronger demand for all games, and more people pulled the trigger early. That was probably a function of A&M and Tennessee fans turning out in droves, but not being quite as experienced as buying Omaha tickets as some others.

The change in the way the do outfield tickets also has changed the market.

Oh. I thought SRO was $80 last year.

Ok, I did this once one year, but then the people showed up in the third inning.

Works better if you don't have a whole family with you.

I wonder how expensive champ tickets would be if creighton ever made it since all the locals would go

It's the way of the world. I wanted to take my son to a Cubs/Cardinals game in August. I couldn't find seats I'd want to watch a game from for under $80 a piece and parking is another $30. The Royals used to be considerably cheaper, but their pricing went up significantly this season with a playoff appearance last fall. I think I'm done with MLB. Sounds like I missed out on the CWS too, as I'm not willing to pay those prices. Oh, Taylor Swift and two Lombardi Trophies priced me out of the Chiefs.

I went to a AA Springfield Cardinals game last week. Had a terrific time, and it's still quite affordable.

They were $50. I stood in line for people heading in for game 1 and bought as many as I could, then transferred to anyone who asked that was an Aggie.

It was a little wild for a little bit. Tons of rumors forced people out of line, thinking they had sold out. We were in line for quite some time. I stood there with my 2 daughters.

For those of us who speculated on championship series tickets when they first popped up on third-party platforms late last year, this has been a rough ride. Low prices compounded by the fact that the third-party platforms don't release the tickets until 24-48 hours before the event (and even then it is a fight to get access) have made trying to resell a very unpleasant experience. Never again, Ticketmaster and SeatGeek.

Crazy differences in prices from 24 to 25. I was able to unload my tickets for games one and two but was surprised at resale prices.

If we had been playing Coastal Carolina prices would have looked more like this year's. No offense to Coastal. But 2 giant SEC teams going at it for a first title is going to have expensive tickets. Also they came down significantly for each game by game time.

The challenge was having a "lesser" school in the finals that didn't bring much demand.

I resold my CWS finals tickets this year and only got $200/ticket for game 2 tix that were going for $900+ last year in the same area.
