Less than a week away from our first serve next Monday against #11 Minnesota as per of the AVCA First Serve Showcase. However, there will be Aggie volleyball played tomorrow. Yes it is an exhibition, however…. we are playing another team!! A different color jersey will be across the net! And yes, it doesn't count lol.
The ladies from Waco will make the drive down south to College Station for an exhibition. Although this matchup doesn't count, it's still a great test against a ranked quality opponent. Baylor is ranked #20 and they were projected to finish 6th in the Big 12 preseason poll.
They have two players who were elected to the Big 12 preseason team which included 18 players. Both were middle blockers. Victoria Davis and Gabrielle Essix formerly of Florida. They did lose a lot and they lost their best player to Nebraska. So they'll be trying to experiment with lineups to see who they have.
Also of note, Ty Warren's two daughters both play for Baylor. Brielle and Bailey Warren, both outside hitters. So you can probably catch Ty at Reed!
On our side, setter Maddie Waak didn't play in the maroon and white exhibition. So let's see if she'll be back out there. Margot Manning who's also a setter tweaked her knee in that game, but we are unsure the severity of her injury. However, one poster said it might not be anything serious. That leaves us only with Kirra Musgrove if Waak and Manning are out. Musgrove was one of the top setters in the nation last year in high school.
Aside from that, most of the other positions are locked down. We know what we have. This is an experienced and talented team. I personally rather have Waak 100% for next Monday, but I can see her getting a set or two in this exhibition!
