Whoops will be shouted, the war hymn will be played, Reed Rowdies will be cheering, the Aggie Dance Team will be dancing, Levy will be taking forever, and most importantly your fightin' Texas Aggie Volleyball team will be playing its first , I repeat ITS FIRST HOME MATCH OF THE SEASON! In game 8 of the year, nearly 4 weeks since the season began, WE ARE HOME. HOME SWEET HOME.
Starting today, the Aggies will play 3 home games within the wall of Reed Arena after playing 7 straight road game to start the season. We travelled to South Dakota, then to Houston, then to Utah, then to the DFW, but now we're staying home. Between all the plane rides and hotel rooms we collected 5 wins and 2 losses. We started the season 5-0 with ranked wins over Minnesota and Utah, while also beating Rice, Central Arkansas, and Utah State. We suffered our only two losses last week at SMU and at TCU. Two uncharacteristic losses suffered at the end of a long long long road stand. We could only hope we put them past us and learned from it.
Now sitting at number 14, it's imperative we play 3 clean matches at home and get the win. First up we have SELA who has lost 3 of their own after starting 5-0. They lost to South Alabama, Tulane, and LSU. Last year they went 26-5 and went undefeated in the Southland Conference before losing their conference tourney championship.
They run a two setter system and run a lot of their offense through their opposite hitter #17 Kyra McKelvey. They have a strong middle duo that have some great stats. They'll be hungry to pick up win but they haven't been on the road nearly as much as us.
We'll see how they play against a Texas A&M team that's rested, motivated, and looking to get back on the winning column. After two rough losses I'm sure our girls will bounce back. Let's hope for a clean match, some clean passes on serve receive and get back to playing Aggie Volleyball.
Hopefully we can get a good crowd there and get Reed loud and rocking! First of 3 more non conference matches. Let's get wins and end non conference at 8-2 before we start conference play next Wednesday! Time to bounce back!
