LEXINGTON The Texas A&M volleyball team was one of eight schools selected for the season-opening American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) First Serve event held at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 21-23, the organization announced Friday morning.

Coming off the programs first NCAA national title, the defending champion Aggies were selected for the AVCA First Serve for the second-straight season. In last year's appearance, Texas A&M's contest versus Minnesota kickstarted the program's record-breaking season, as they downed the Golden Gophers in four sets (3-1) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

"We're excited to be selected for the AVCA First Serve again this year," head coach Jamie Morrison said. "This event is helping further the game of volleyball through some innovative changes, and we're thrilled to be a part of it. It's going to be full of great matches, and our group is ready for the challenge in Milwaukee."

The event features eight programs, including fellow Final Four members from the 2025 NCAA Tournament Kentucky, Pitt and Wisconsin. The remaining four teams consist of Arizona State, Louisville, SMU and Texas who all concluded last season listed in the top 12 of the AVCA postseason rankings.

The Maroon & White return eight members of their 2025 title winning team, including AVCA All-American and NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player Kyndal Stowers. The new-look Aggies added seven new additions to the Spring roster which includes four freshmen and three impact players from the transfer portal. The group will also add a fifth member of the rookie class who joins the team in the Summer.

Tickets for AVCA First Serve, which will go on sale Friday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. and can be purchased through Fiserv Forum's website.

This is great news! I went to last year's match in Sioux Falls, so I will have to see if I can make this one in Milwaukee.

Great news! Wish it could be closer to home. Two years now that we have been so far away.

You can only be in the invitational 2 times in a 4 year period so this will be our last time for a bit. Hard to be a tradition.

Man, this team has come a LONG way in a very SHORT amount of time!

At last year's event people got to watch the defending national champions followed by the eventual national champions. This year let's be both of those.

Rumor is one of the first serve matches is us vs Wisconsin. Would be a huge match if true.

Wisconsin as we know was a final four team, they will lose some key pieces like Mimi Colyer, Carter Booth, Una Vajagic and Alicia Andrew. But they do return First Team All American setter Charlie Feurbringer to lead their team and a dynamic hitter who was out this past year due to injury in Grace Lopez. They do also bring in the number 1 recruiting classes with a couple girls who will crack their rotation like hitters Audrey Flanagan, Halle Thompson, and middle and Lynney Tarnow. They did also bring in Jaela Auguste, one of the portals top players at middle blocker. So like us, they'll be replacing their two middles. But they'll have to replace both of their outside hitters, and their right side will be Lopez returning from injury. They have their libero retiring in Kirsten Simon, but their other two left. They're losing 10 girls off of last years team.

Don't mind me already stressing and scouting an opponent for a match 8 months away at 4 in the morning

Wisconsin makes the most sense, Not gonna play any of the teams from the final four or Texas or Louisville again. Played SMU last year, so it was either gonna be Wisconsin or Arizona state and I assume Arizona State needed to play one of the others.

Why wouldn't the tournament want rematches from last year's playoffs? Especially teams that aren't already on each other's 2026 schedules, e.g. A&M vs. Pitt
