Elko's recruiting heater helping cure 'Summertime Blues' in Aggieland
The summer months could have been long and boring in Aggieland, but Mike Elko and his team of "Recruiting Avengers" saved the dog days through June and July. Over the last couple of months, the Aggies have welcomed 15 commitments in the class of 2026.

Tuesday Recruiting Notes and Thoughts
Let's jump right in Yesterday it was mentioned there are some reports about Texas pushing to flip Prosper (TX) OL Zaden Krempin.Neither the speculation by writers and analysts or the pursuit by the Longhorns would be surprising, so I asked Krempin if Texas was trying to turn up the heat.He responded, "Yes sir, I told them I'm going to be an Aggie."************A few quick thoughts on the commitment of Tamarion Watkins-Love the addition. Brauny and I talked about it in the IHV, but 6-4, 200-plus, rangy, physical, versatile, smart, and a big frame with so much room for growth. -I really like the vision Bateman has for him - think Scooby Williams - and I like Watkins' excitement and buy-in to that vision. -We have talked about character and culture on many of these guys, and in talking to people around Tamarion it is easy to see he brings both by the boat load. The 3.9 gpa, the work ethic in the classroom and on the field, the background of setting the standard in a championship program. All great things.-Overall this LB class has to make you smile with a strong mix of talent, skillsets, body types, and high character leader types from strong programs with high-level football backgrounds.-If nothing else DaQuives "Qui" Beck, Tank King, Storm Miller, and Tamarion "T-Wat" Watkins is an all-name class. You almost don't need to see the tape or measurables, these guys just sound like SEC LBs.*********Upcoming announcementsJuly 18 - S Tylan Wilson, Pascagoula (MS) - He is down to Texas A&M, Clemson, and Arkansas, and we have been feeling like things are trending the Aggies way. As decision day approaches that continues to be the case. August 8 - WR Jase Mathews, Leakesville (MS) - He is down to Texas A&M, Auburn, LSU, and Ole Miss, and as Brauny and I both said yesterday the feeling we get is this one is trending towards LSU. Now, the Aggies are a very real contender and there is some time before he makes his announcement, but right now things seem to be trending towards Baton Rouge. There's no announcement dates on these two, but Waukee (IA) TE Evan Jacobson and Edge Tank Jones are also key targets heavily involved with the Aggies.**************A few targets committed elsewhere I'd keep on the radarWR Boobie Feaster, DeSoto - USC commit - The Aggies made him a high priority, have strong ties to DeSoto, he has some strong connections at Texas A&M, and I see him being a prospect the Aggies continue to pursue. WR Tristen Keys, Hattiesburg (MS) - LSU commit - 5-star who has visited multiple times including an OV after making his LSU commitment, and he has been outspoken about his connection and respect for Holmon Wiggins. DL Lamar Brown, Baton Rouge (LA) University Lab - LSU commit - The Aggies finished behind LSU, and I think the Aggies are going to need some help in the form of some LSU/Brian Kelly shake-up or disappointment for there to be a real chance. However, I do see the Aggies continuing to pursue.DL Jaimeon Winfield, Richardson (TX) - USC commit - The state's top DT prospect is always one to watch. I haven't heard a lot of smoke, but I do look for the Aggies to continue their DL evaluations and he was the only in-state DT the Aggies truly pursued.**********One more noteI do look for the Aggies to continue to evaluate 2026 high school OLs and DT/SDE types, so don't be surprised if a few off the radar/under the radar prospects emerge especially during the first month of the season as guys put out new tape.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
