State 7-on-7 Tournament Thread
The Texas State 7-on-7 Tournament begins today at Veteran's Park in College Station. In terms of prospects on the A&M radar in the upcoming senior class, this is as light of a field as I can ever remember. Still, our team will be on sight throughout the weekend to get a look at the names that are on Mike Elko's big board as well as the players that are beginning to emerge on recruiting radars across the region. The small schools start this morning at 10 am. Their playoffs will begin early tomorrow before the larger classification starts their pool play in the afternoon with that bracket taking place on Saturday. Here's a list of players to watch as compiled by Jason Howell:Texas A&M offersDeSoto - WR Boobie Feaster - 2027 RB Myson Johnson-Cook Crandall- 2027 WR Jeremiah Douglas Argyle Liberty Christian- 2027 LB Cooper Witten Hutto- 2027 WR Jaiden Fields Tyler- 2027 WR Trey Haralson Colleyville Heritage- 2028 WR Dez Bryant Jr Lewisville - 2027 CB Taelyn Mayo Waco Midway - 2027 RB Lathan Whisenton Pflugerville Weiss- 2027 WR Tre Moore Argyle- 2027 WR Julian Caldwell Bastrop- 2027 QB Weston Nielsen Longview- 2028 WR Jaden Hurndon El Paso Pebble Hills- 2029 TE Noah Tarrant Manvel- 2027 CB Karnell James Shadow Creek- 2027 CB Brandon Sherrard Frisco Panther Creek- ATH Jalen Lott - S Donovan Webb Willis - ATH Jermaine Bishop - Texas commitGrand Oaks- QB Grant Smith Other Notables - 2026QB Jack Daulton, The Woodlands - TCU commitQB Kase Evans , Lexington - Oklahoma St commitRB HD Davis, Wolfe City - Kansas St commitRB Christian Rhodes, Dallas Lake Highlands - SMU commitWR Jabarie Thornton, Waco La Vega - Oklahoma St commitWR Chris Stewart, Shadow Creek - Texas commitTE Braden Bach, Argyle - TCU commitLB Kailer Pettijohn, AnnaLB Jamarion Phillips - South Oak Cliff - Baylor commitCB Marcell Gipson Jr - South Oak Cliff - Clemson commitCB Jason Bradford, Temple - TCU commitS Markel Ford, DeSoto - SMU commitS Yaheim Riley, Austin Anderson - Texas commitS Bradley Brown, Plano - TCU commitATH Lakeyleon Graves - Kilgore2027QB Jaxon Blancett - LorenaRB SaRod Baker, DeSotoRB Derrick Martin, Lewisville RB Cadarius McMiller, Tyler HighWR Isaac Stinson - Bay CityWR Aden Starling, Shadow Creek - Houston commitWR Tim Moore, Van AlstyneS Aiden Evans, LewisvilleS Aston Whiteside, Lucas Lovejoy ATH Terian Maxie, TrinityATH Isaiah Reed, Hamshire-Fannett2028QB Tristin Gaines, WallerQB Jaxon Schad, Pflugerville WeissWR Tylan Henderson, Pflugerville Weiss 2029WR Cor'mond Houston, Anna

A&M upping its recruiting efforts in East Texas in 2026 and beyond
Recruiting talent-rich East Texas has been a necessity for Texas A&M in the past, and Mike Elko & Co. are attacking the region stronger in the 2026 cycle and beyond. The Aggies signed a pair of East Texas standouts in the 2024 class but did not ink an East Texas product in 2025.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
