Recruiting Notes on Non-Visitors
I was able to collect some intel throughout the day on the latest with a few Texas A&M targets who were somewhere other than College Station as the Aggies aim to continue their torrid June run on the recruiting trail. - Let's start in the city of Houston where Ft Bend Ridge Point OL Avery Morcho completed his month of official visits with a voyage up to TCU the last couple of days. As we've stated, the Horned Frogs have already secured a commitment from Morcho's friend and fellow offensive lineman Jordan Burnett. Going into his trip to Fort Worth, I thought that angle was something that Sonny Dykes and his staff were going to have to hammer home if they wanted to get back in the race. With a decision seemingly on the horizon now that the 6-6, 270 pounder has wrapped up his June schedule, I still very much like where the Aggies are at. From my perspective, their charge last week, led by Adam Cushing and assisted by Kaeden Johnson, created too much of a chasm to overcome if a decision is indeed coming. - Texas A&M is still working to navigate the waters for Waukee (IA) TE Evan Jacobson who had his official visit to Aggieland sandwiched squarely between journeys to Stanford, Missouri, Notre Dame, and Iowa State. Of that group, the general consensus is that the Fighting Irish are poised to give the Mike Elko and Collin Klein the most problems here - with a nod toward Stanford who can't quite be counted out just yet due to Jacobson's academic acumen. It appears the Maroon & White have broken out the big guns as I was told by one source that the legendary Dat Nguyen has been advocating for the power of the Aggie Network with Evan and his inner circle. From what I know, the kid has his eye on the legal field when his time on the gridiron comes to an end. If the decision were to be made solely on that element, I'd say it's likely he's South Bend bound. However, I believe there is a distinct appeal to play in the best college football conference in the country so the Aggies have that angle baked into their pitch. Either way, I do not see this one playing out too much longer. I suspect we'll have a decision by early to mid July.- I checked back in with my Golden Triangle folks on Port Arthur Memorial LB Tank King who himself made a trek to Notre Dame on the weekend. It's been no secret that Texas A&M held the keys to this recruitment since about April, and the Aggies only further distanced themselves from the field during his official visit a couple of weeks ago. Intel that has been passed along to me today continues to show a Maroon and White hue even though I think Marcus Freeman did a nice job of putting his best foot forward. - Lastly, I don't have too much to share right now on Lamar Brown and his hometown official visit to LSU other than, as you'd fully expect, the Tigers have sat themselves squarely in the middle of the ring. They were able to grab some much needed momentum back away from Elko and company who had pulled the rope greatly in the direction of College Station just 7 days ago. I asked a Louisiana based source today if the addition of Brandon Arrington and A&M's standing with Tank Jones could indeed help the Aggies' chances as Brown has stated before in interviews. My source wasn't ready to say it was the push needed to get Lamar locked down, but it certainly can't hurt. Given Brown's standing as a prospect and his proximity to the Bayou Bengal program, the pragmatic, common sense pick would be Purple and Gold. I keep coming back to, "How many times does a player like that from Baton Rouge who LSU desperately wants actually go elsewhere?" That's not belittle the work that Elko and his crew have done in this recruitment. They've been awesome. They've been more than awesome. However, the precedent and formula here would seemingly equate more to Mike than Reveille.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
