Cade Haug

The Aggie coaches are back on the road scouting the state of Texas and beyond as we get ready for a busy month of June featuring camps on campus as well as official visitors. Here are a few notes I've been able to pick up over the last few days. - Collin Klein made another trip to East Texas to see 2027 Palestine Westwood QB Kavian Bryant. One of the better overall athletes in that class, Bryant is weighing both football and basketball options for his future. Some people I've spoken with believe he's a top 10 player in the state on the hardwood. - Another in-state name to track as a signal caller in the rising junior class is Ty Knutson at Smithson Valley. He played in limited action for last year's 5A Division I State Champs due to a multi-year senior starter ahead of him, but he's got a very intriguing frame and skillset. Beyond the borders of Texas, QBs Peyton Houston and Jayce Johnson currently hold most of the Aggies' attention at the position in that 2027 class. - Let's go back to East Texas where Aggie targets KJ Edwards and DaQuives Beck reside behind the Pine Curtain. If you haven't been paying attention, Texas A&M is right in the thick of things with Carthage duo. I spoke to a source yesterday who had connections to Edwards, and it was made known to me that both KJ and his inner circle are massive fans of Trooper Taylor and Mike Elko. I was also told that KJ's top priorities are fit and development. I've always thought it would be tough for the Maroon and White to pull both he and Jonathan Hatton Jr in this running back class, but as a source told me last night, "I'm not going to be the guy that bets against Trooper Taylor." Texas is the main competitor currently, and there are a few folks in the recruiting industry who believe the Longhorns have the edge. We'll see, but based on our intel, it'd be foolish to write that one off in favor of Steve Sarkisian just yet. - For Beck, I think he and Tank King have emerged from the in-state linebacker group as the pair with the most A&M momentum. Assuming trends continue, I don't think it'd surprise our recruiting team if one or both of them wound up in the commit class by mid July. - Here's another name I'd put a pen in as a potential late riser/camp impresser: Klein Oak DB Harrison Carter. A trainer in Houston told me the Aggies have started to sniff around on him a bit and that the kid is going to measure and test well during the summer circuit. Just something to watch there as GM Derek Miller and his staff continue to comb over tape of Texas kids. - I called around to see if there was anything new on Columbus (GA) Carver EDGE Tristian Givens after a flurry of A&M momentum last week. I wasn't able to scrounge up much in terms of timeline, but it did sound like the Aggies remained in an enviable position with Tennessee, USC, and Florida State all still circling. - At defensive end, I think Temple's Jamarion Carlton is poised for a massive senior season. He's added more good weight to his frame and has continued to improve his overall athletic profile. There's an increase in twitch and power that were already well ahead of many of his peers at the position in the Lone Star State. The Aggies should get a boost here with the help of Taurean York and walk-on Kade Stewart who are both from Temple and know Jamarion. This is an in-stater that I'd personally like to see Elko and company get over the line. He checks a lot of boxes for me, including playing with a really high motor. - Lastly, Adam Cushing has been making his rounds in Houston. Cade Draughon should have more on that front soon, but I do know he stopped in at Kingwood to get eyes on 2027 OL offer Kennedy Brown. However, a source in northeast Houston told me this morning that LB Cade Haug also very much caught Cushing's attention, and it sounds like he'll camp in College Station next month. His offer list has seen noticeable growth this offseason.

The February signing period is in the past as the 2026 recruiting class is taking center stage with new prospects emerging all over the state of Texas. It is time to take a look at the latest happenings in the Lone Star state on the recruiting front.
