Wednesday Recruiting Notes
When linebacker Storm Miller committed he said he would be back for a visit with his mom, and he is headed back to College Station this week. He will be back in town Thursday to give his mom her first look at Aggieland, and he is looking forward to showing her arond. This weekend saw the Aggies continue the positive recruiting momentum with the additions of a couple of commitment, but they were not the only positive trends. It does not take a genius to see Lamar Brown returning to town for another visit as a big positive for the Aggies, and it is safe to say if the Aggies are not the leader they are a leader. LSU is most definitely a factor there, but he was once again in town with friends for a multi-day visit and the Aggies continue to generate positive momentum on that front. Staying on the defensive line, when Richardson (TX) DL Jaimeon Winfield committed to USC following a March unofficial visit, I thought the Aggies would continue to pursue. That is definitely the case and he made it to campus not once, but twice this spring including last weekend for the spring game. He also visited for Junior Day in January. Before his commitment the Aggies were thought to be a strong contender, and it does not look like that has changed after. I'm not saying a flip is imminent but keep him on your radar. I do get the sense Texas A&M and Picayune (MS) defensive end Nolan Wilson are moving in different directions. He has talked about setting up an OV in the past, but I'm told he feels like more of a priority elsewhere at the moment. Switching gears a little bit. I have been out at spring practices. Mainly dropping into see top priority A&M targets. So far I have dropped in to see Zaden Krempin, Drew Evers, and John Turntine in the 2026 class and Cooper Witten and Braylon Williams in the 2027 class. Of course I always happen across a few new prospects as well. One of my recent stops was to Walnut Grove who in their first year of varsity play won district over Anna, Melissa, Lucas Lovejoy, and Frisco Emerson with a freshman QB named Hayes Hackney. Hackney is an athletic QB with a quick release and a strong arm who makes quick decisions and led a powerful offense. He is on the shorter side at 5-9, 5-10, but he completed 66-percent of his passes for 3,671 yards, 40 TDs and on 5 INTs to lead 5A-DII in passing and earn District MVP honors. I highlighted 2027 OL Jackson Hooker last week as my new name to know. He checks in at 6-4, 270 and he is agile, athletic, and mean in those trenches. He received his first offer last week from ULM and comes from an athletic family with his mom, dad, and older sister all playing a sport in college. Another guy who really caught my attention is OLB/DE DJ Henderson. Henderson did not play varsity last year, but he checks in at 6-5, 230 and he has a sub-5.0 40. He hit a growth spurt in the last year and he moves really well. I could easily see him grabbing quite a bit of attention as coaches see him this spring and get a chance to work with him this summer. Coach Allison at Walnut Grove, who coach Malcome Kennedy at Cayuga, is very intrigued by his potential.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
