For A&M newcomers, Saturday scrimmage brings big stage

The halfway point of the Aggies' Fall Camp draws near and several in the lauded Texas A&M recruiting class appear poised for an early impact. Yet, testing their mettle in a fan-filled Kyle Field may create separation.

Next weekend Texas A&M will stage a fan appreciation day, but Saturday’s football scrimmage will be something of a fan participation day.

As the Aggies approach the halfway mark of August camp and the season opener against Rice on Aug. 31 nears, A&M coach Kevin Sumlin has seen some encouraging signs from his veterans and the 31 newcomers from the 2013 recruiting class.

But it’s important that thousands of Aggies see those signs, too.
