For eternal optimists still harboring national championship hopes, the remainder of Texas A&M’s college football season is like the annual Alaska salmon run.

Don’t worry. That run doesn’t weave through the A&M defense. It’s just a metaphor for the challenge the Aggies face.

They must struggle against a strong current and avoid dangerous predators to defy overwhelming odds and reach their intended destination.

For the Aggies, that’s Pasadena. Salmon just want to spawn on Yukon gravel beds.
