Imperfections, defense doom A&M against Auburn

The weekly tightrope Texas A&M and its defense walk has finally given out. On a deflating afternoon, the Aggies watched Johnny Manziel's determination and Mike Evans' explosion fall by the wayside in a loss.

Johnny Manziel has baffled Bama, overwhelmed Oklahoma and mystified Mississippi.

Yet, for all his remarkable ability, there was a defense on Saturday that he just could not overcome.

His own.

True, Auburn’s defense posed some problems, too. That much was apparent by the two interceptions he threw and the three sacks he endured. But ultimately, A&M’s own defensive deficiencies proved too heavy a burden for Manziel to carry — especially with a sore right shoulder — in a 45-41 loss to Auburn.
