Dubious record may await Tennessee in 2014

Times have been tough in Knoxville, and Butch Jones' efforts to revamp the program face a difficult set of tests in the upcoming season. Should the Vols fall short, they'll make school history in the 'worst' way.

Way back in 1906 the Tennessee football team finished 1-6-1 under Coach J.D. Depree.

It was Volunteers’ fourth consecutive losing season.

Normally, what occurred more than a century ago would be long forgotten. However, Tennessee has now endured four straight losing seasons for only the second time in school history.

If the Vols continue to struggle in 2014, they will set a Tennessee record for futility.

Most indicators would suggest another difficult season lies ahead.
