Is it Ole Miss' year? History says not so fast

The SEC West's power programs will endure a reloading of sorts in 2014, opening the door for the roster built by Hugh Freeze. To take the next step, however, the Rebels will have to overcome a woeful pattern.

The good folks in Oxford think this could be the year that Ole Miss finally finishes first in the SEC West.

And with a bunch of starters returning from last season’s football team that finished 8-5, that lofty goal could be attainable.

But if Ole Miss is to accomplish that quest the Rebels must overcome several obstacles:
  • Alabama
  • Auburn
  • LSU
  • Texas A&M
  • Ole Miss
That last bullet point wasn’t a typo.
