Hill to start, competition to continue in Aggieland

The battle for starting quarterback isn't concluded, according to Kevin Sumlin. For now, however, Texas A&M will head to South Carolina with a slight bit of experience under center and confidence in its starter.

Texas A&M football coach Kevin Sumlin announced on Saturday that sophomore Kenny Hill won a fierce competition over true freshman Kyle Allen and would be the Aggies' starting quarterback.

Hill make his first career start on Aug. 28 against ninth-ranked South Carolina.

Sumlin made the announcement about 4:20 pm after having informed the players of his decision earlier in the day.

“I thought that both guys really competed in a great way.
