Texas A&M 73, Lamar 3: Defense in review

This is a new Aggie defense. That became clear with a strong showing on third down, against the run and in the backfield. As for the raw talent now lining the depth chart? It's only going to continue to get better.

What we learned

A tremendous performance by the A&M defense. Sure, the opponent was nothing more than an SLC also-ran, but that same Cardinal team probably scores 17-24 points against last year's Aggies and Mark Snyder's unit absolutely decimated Lamar for four quarters. The Cardinals managed just a single field goal, converted 4-of-19 third downs and ran for only 90 yards on 38 attempts and senior Caleb Berry managed to complete just 40-percent of his passes.
