Against Rice, Texas A&M failed to look playoff-worthy for the first time in three games this season — and still won by 28. There are two sides to the same victory, but sharper focus must come in short order.

While improving to 3-0 on the young season and climbing to No. 6 in the national rankings, Texas A&M played a game that was, at times, as sloppy as the Kyle Field playing surface. The defense couldn't get off of the field and the offense was never able to quite find the same rhythm as during the South Carolina and Lamar no-contests.

At the end of the day, however, the Aggies were up 21-7 before halftime and the game was never closer than that.
