Heisman Hopefuls: Conference play to set contenders apart

The front-runners after September hold steady in the weekly rankings by TexAgs' resident Heisman Trophy voter, but a slate of games against ramped-up competition will quickly decide who stays and who goes.

Each week of the college football season TexAgs’ Olin Buchanan will reveal how he would rank the top five contenders. The rankings reflect how he would vote if the Heisman ballots were due that day. Buchanan has been a Heisman Trophy voter since 1993.

Week 6 Heisman rankings

1. Todd Gurley, Georgia, RB: Coming off a career-high rushing output in a victory over Tennessee, Gurley now has rushed for 610 yards and four touchdowns. He’s accumulated that yardage on just 69 carries for an 8.8 average.
