Wednesday's result may not have been pretty, but it was a win in a game last season's team may very well have lost. Looking next at Arizona State, the Aggies have a number of things they can improve in a hurry.

1. Doing what it takes to win: Billy Kennedy's team struggled, to say the least, but hustle and intensity pulled it through to get the win. Overall, Texas A&M didn't make a lot of shots on the night and normally that would lead to less-than-average defensive performance. The Aggies didn't allow their poor shooting to affect the way they played on defense.

Last year's A&M team would have lost this game and the support and momentum of the new season would have been lost immediately.
