Football Recruiting: 2016 Manvel S Deontay Anderson

Anderson and the Manvel Mavericks rolled into their Week 0 game against Spring Westfield as one of the top-ranked teams in the country with state championship aspirations. Yet, as the clock hit :00 on Friday night, they found themselves on the wrong side of an upset — 29-26.

It was a lesson learned for Anderson, and as a senior leader it's his job to make sure it doesn't happen again.

"We just have to put this behind us," said Anderson. "It really hurts. I think it's what we needed though. I think everyone expected us to go undefeated and we expected oursevles to go undefeated.
