#16 Texas A&M vs. Ball State: Key matchups

The target is back on Texas A&M's back, but its most important opponent from this weekend on will be itself. In welcoming a veteran but outmatched Ball State squad to the new Kyle Field, the Aggies will learn on the job at a select few positions.

Texas A&M vs. the tight end position
Not necessarily a matchup, but I believe we'll see the Aggies spend the next two weeks trying to figure out who can play and potentially improve the offense moving forward at the tight end position. It's an essential component of the offense that the Ags will need when taking on the bigger, more physical SEC West defenses, beginning with Arkansas in a couple of weeks.

That means we'll see more of true freshman Jordan Davis and veteran Caden Smith than we did a week ago — and probably even 300-pound tackle Koda Martin when Jake Spavital wants to go big in short-yardage and goal-line work.
