It was one of the most memorable teams in Texas A&M's long baseball history, and thus the fall was one of the program's most painful. A great deal of pitching returns; a great deal of hitting does not. How should we reflect on the 2016 season and what should we expect in '17?

Two days later, it’s still a difficult pill to swallow.

That is, the full realization that this particular Texas A&M baseball team will not have a chance to compete for a national championship in Omaha.

Is this what 1989 felt like? It has to be.

The Aggies — ranked No. 1 and one of the front-runners to win the title — fell to a semi-local college baseball fast-rising power wearing purple at Olsen Field, one game away from the College World Series.
