After many years of playing on the club level, the 1981 Aggie Men's Soccer Club was elevated to Varsity status by the Texas A&M Athletic Department. That season, the squad went undefeated in Southwest Conference league play and was seemingly on track toward national prominence in the sport, but athletic department officials thought otherwise.
Much to the chagrin of the coaches and players, the program was relegated back to club status prior to the 1982 season. Lost Lettermen takes a look at who played on that Aggie Soccer team, and explores the reasons why they only played on the Varsity level for one season.
